Katrin Maurer (Wenen 1975) ‘verovert’ dit voorjaar stap-voor-stap en kas-voor-kas de glazen expositieruimten in de museumtuin. Als bij een estafette geeft zij met haar eerste presentatie inhoud en vorm door aan de exposities die erna volgen. Haar kunstwerken zijn nooit eerder in een overzichtstentoonstelling te zien geweest. Maurer is door het Nationaal Glasmuseum uitgenodigd om met bestaand werk een Exhibition in progress te realiseren. De tentoonstelling is als het ware pas ‘af’ aan het einde van haar installatieproces en zal worden geopend met een finissage. Het feit dat zij de vijf kassen in de museumtuin gaat inrichten met tussenposes, heeft dat consequenties voor de inrichting van de kassen die al klaar zijn? Gaat Maurer gedurende dit expositieproces nog aanpassingen verrichten of juist niet. Haar oeuvrepresentatie vormt zo een unieke ketting van kleine solopresentaties die naar een overzichts- expositie toegroeit.

This spring, Katrin Maurer (Vienna 1975) will conquer the glass exhibition spaces in our museum garden, step-by-step and greenhouse-by-greenhouse. The first presentation's content and style will relay into the next one, and so forth. She will tiptoe towards the climax of her presentation like a predator stalks its prey. The National Glass Museum has invited Maurer to curate an 'Exhibition in Progress' out of her existing body of work. Never before have her works been shown in retrospective.
This is an exhibition that will only be fully installed at the end of its run. Therefore it will be opened with a 'finissage'. How will the fact that each of the five greenhouses will be furnished in turn affect the greenhouses that have already been completed? Will Maurer make any further adjustments during this exhibition process or not? Her work-in-progress will form a unique chain of small solo presentations that will evolve into a retrospective.
